Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience.

• 3 months of travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >75 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 24 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - UNC Health Southeastern and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - UNC Health Southeastern.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: Must have completed at least 1 travel assignment. IV insertion, trach management, chest tube management, NG tube placement and management, feeding tubes, Foley placement and management, wound care, dressing changes, and central line management.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Cardiac rhythm interpretation preferred.

Special Requests: Permanent staff must wait 2 years before returning as a traveler. Blocked scheduling may be accommodated per the manager but cannot be guaranteed. RTO requests: Clinical team approval is required for up to 7 days off. Unit manager approval is required for more than 7 days off. Holidays: You will be assigned a holiday in rotation; holiday RTO requests require approval.

Unit Details: Observation and heavy post-op unit with total joints, bariatrics, general surgery, and Med-Surg overflow. Patient population includes CHF, diabetes, dialysis, COPD, ETOH, IVDA, and general surgical, post-operative, and observation patients. Telemetry is remotely monitored with a tele tech 24/7; RNs will not have to read or verify strips, and the tele tech will notify the RN of rhythm changes. Patient ratios are 1:5-6 and can flex up to 7 during surge times, though this is rare. Support on the unit includes CNAs, a day shift unit secretary, tele tech 24/7, hospitalists, and RT in house 24/7. The charge nurse takes a patient load. Phlebotomy does most peripheral draws; nurses draw all central lines. Uses BD Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend expectation; rarely back-to-back weekends. Overtime may be available, dependent on staffing during the contract.

Floating Requirements: Float to any Med-Surg unit and the holding/overflow unit.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or the alternative certification MAB
