Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician

A physician-owned OB/GYN group is building the in-house laborist program covering labor and delivery at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles. The hospital is completing construction of a brand-new facility with a brand-new labor and delivery unit, and we are hiring the founding group of laborists who will staff it.

We are offering two tracks, and you choose the one that fits your life:

Track 1 Pure Laborist
Straight 24-hour in-house shifts. No clinic and no patient panel to carry home. You work your shifts and you're done. Ideal for physicians who want a defined schedule, concentrated blocks of time off, and the ability to live wherever they want between shifts.

Track 2 Hybrid Laborist / Clinical Practice
In-house laborist shifts combined with outpatient clinic sessions at one of our ObGyn offices in the greater Los Angeles area, plus a surgical day a minimum of every other week. This track is designed for physicians who want continuity with their own patients and a steady OR schedule alongside the predictability and income floor of shift work. Surgical volume and clinic days can be scaled up for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• In-house coverage of labor and delivery, triage, and OB emergencies for the full shift
• Management of laboring patients, vaginal and operative deliveries, and cesarean sections
• Response to obstetric emergencies, OB rapid response, and unassigned/walk-in obstetric patients
• Coverage and back-up for community physicians' patients per program protocol
• Collaboration with nursing, anesthesia, and neonatology on unit protocols and patient safety initiatives
• Participation in building the culture and clinical standards of a new unit from day one

Requirements

• MD or DO, Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Active California medical license (or eligible and willing to obtain), DEA
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP - or willingness to get certified.
• Eligible for medical staff privileges at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center
• Comfort managing high-acuity obstetric emergencies independently and operating without in-house backup
• For the hybrid track: current gynecologic surgical skills and interest in maintaining an outpatient panel
