Position Summary:

Montefiore is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to serve in its Office of Legal Affairs to provide legal advice and assistance across the organization to all levels of Montefiore associates including directors, administrators, clinicians, and senior executives.  

In this critical role, you will provide legal counsel and strategic guidance on a broad range of healthcare and business matters. Responsibilities include advising on healthcare laws and regulations, negotiating and drafting contracts, supporting commercial transactions, addressing information technology and data use issues, and providing guidance on emerging artificial intelligence initiatives. You will also handle clinical service arrangements, physician practice acquisitions, HIPAA and privacy matters, corporate governance and organizational structuring, regulatory compliance, intellectual property issues, and patient care-related legal matters. The successful candidate will partner closely with operational and clinical leaders to mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and support the organization's strategic objectives.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD): A law degree from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in the state of New York
• At least 5 years of significant legal work experience, primarily in transactional matters, with a focus on contract negotiation, either as in-house counsel or external legal counsel. 
• Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as are strong client service, problem solving, project management, and negotiation capabilities.
