Responsibilities:If you’re someone who believes that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive in a safe, supportive family environment, this role was built for you. As a Therapeutic Foster Care Social Worker within our Therapeutic Foster Care program, you’ll provide comprehensive case management services to children, foster families, biological families, and adoptive families—ensuring each child receives the support, advocacy, and coordinated care needed for long-term stability and success. Your work will be relationship-driven, community-based, and essential to helping children and families achieve positive outcomes.
What You'll Do
As a Therapeutic Foster Care Social Worker, you'll provide comprehensive case management and family-centered services for children in therapeutic foster care. Day to day, you can expect to:
- Conduct assessments, complete social histories, develop individualized treatment plans, and monitor client progress through regular home visits, family meetings, and ongoing case management.
- Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and education to children, therapeutic foster parents, biological families, and adoptive families while promoting healthy family relationships and placement stability.
- Coordinate treatment services, facilitate Family Treatment Team Meetings, collaborate with community providers, and advocate for clients by connecting families with needed resources and supports.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation, complete required reports, attend court hearings and case-related meetings, and ensure compliance with agency, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in community-based services, including evening visits and an on-call rotation, while delivering responsive, high-quality support that promotes safety, permanency, and positive outcomes for children and families.
What to Expect
This role requires strong clinical judgment, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple cases while balancing office responsibilities with community-based services. You'll spend time in clients' homes, schools, community settings, and court proceedings, building meaningful relationships with children, families, foster parents, and community partners.
As part of your role, you'll work collaboratively with supervisors, treatment teams, foster families, biological families, and external agencies to ensure children receive comprehensive, family-centered services that promote safety, permanency, and emotional well-being. Evening community visits, crisis response, and participation in an on-call rotation may be required to support the needs of children and families.
Supporting Quality & Compliance
You will ensure all case management activities comply with agency policies, licensing requirements, court expectations, and state regulations governing therapeutic foster care. Through timely documentation, effective communication, accurate assessments, and adherence to reporting deadlines, you'll help maintain high-quality services while supporting positive outcomes for children and families. You'll also contribute to a culture of service excellence by demonstrating professionalism, collaboration, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Qualifications:We welcome candidates who are passionate about serving children and families and meet the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work required; Master's degree in Social Work preferred
Current LBSW or LMSW licensure required
Minimum of two years of direct clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and/or families
Previous therapeutic foster care, child welfare, and/or case management experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of community resources, family systems, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and child development
Strong organizational, assessment, communication, and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently in community settings, participate in an on-call rotation, and maintain accurate electronic documentation
Ability to attend home visits, court hearings, treatment team meetings, and other community-based appointments as needed
