The Federal Work Study MUS Technician will assist in the general daily operations of the classrooms, labs/rehearsal space to include supporting students and faculty, ensuring lab equipment is in proper working order, and supporting the Music and Sound Department with basic administrative functions.
This Federal Work Study position will support current students by providing opportunities for students to use the rehearsal space and related equipment and assisting students in the use of the equipment. In addition, this position will complement and reinforce a Federal Work Study student’s educational program or vocational goals by providing opportunities for the Work Study MUS Technician to increase their skills with current equipment, learn customer service skills, and learn basic administrative skills.
Responsibilities:
- Check students in and out of dept labs and studios
- Check equipment in and out for students and faculty
- Assist students with use of related labs, studios and equipment
- Monitor lab usage to ensure students are adhering to lab policies
- Assist with the maintenance of spaces and equipment
- Assist with general departmental administrative tasks
Qualifications:
- Basic Apple computer skills
- Familiarity with typical backline equipment (PA System, Guitars, Amplifiers and Drums)
- Familiarity with common music production hardware, software and practices
- Skilled communicator
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Reports to:
Chris Lee, Lead Technician, Schools of Music Production and Sound Design for Visual Media and Motion Picture and Television Edit Labs
Pay Rate:
$19.61 per hour

Work Schedule:
Up to 20 hours per week*
Federal Work Study schedules can work up to 20 hours per week*
*Federal Work Study work schedules may not conflict with the student's class schedule.
Length of Employment: The student's starting term at the Academy of Art University through graduation.
