Full job description
Service Technician - Walker, MI
DISHER is partnering with a long-standing, family-owned commercial door company to find a Field Service Technician who will install, service, and repair automatic door systems across Michigan and northern Indiana. In this role, you'll travel to customer sites to troubleshoot and maintain sliding, swinging, and revolving door systems in commercial settings like retail stores and hospitals. If you enjoy hands-on mechanical work, solving problems in the field, and seeing the results of your effort right away — this role is for you.
What it's like to work here:
This company has been proudly family-owned since the 1970s and thrives on a tight-knit, team-first culture where everyone helps each other out — from the office to the field. With a smaller team, your contributions are noticed and valued from day one. Technicians support one another, and the company invests in your growth through hands-on training alongside experienced techs before you ever go out on your own.
What you'll get to do:
- Install, service, and repair commercial automatic door systems (sliding, swinging, revolving)
- Travel to customer sites across Michigan (primarily Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo areas) and occasionally northern Indiana
- Train directly alongside experienced technicians before transitioning to your own route
- Drive a company-provided service van once training is complete
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (approximately one week every 8 weeks)
- Work independently in the field while staying connected to a supportive team
- Occasionally work overtime or overnight stays when projects require it
What will make you successful:
- Hands-on mechanical or electrical experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve in the field
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and occasional overnight travel
- Comfortable with physical, hands-on work in commercial environments
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn from others
