Light & Medium Diesel Tech | Up to $110K | 1-2 Yrs Exp
Location: Schaumburg, Illinois 60193
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:50 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Saturday, 7:50 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on rotation, with Sunday and one rotating weekday off
Pay Rate: $25-$45 per flagged hour
Pay Type: Flat rate
Pay Schedule: Weekly
Earning Potential: $70,000-$110,000 annually
Typical Flagged Hours: 45+ per week; minimum 30-hour weekly guarantee

About This Opportunity
Promotive is recruiting for a Light & Medium Duty Diesel Technician opportunity in Schaumburg, Illinois. This position offers flat-rate pay of $25-$45 per flagged hour, with expected annual earnings of $70,000-$110,000 and a minimum 30-hour weekly guarantee. The expected workload is approximately 30% diagnostics and 70% maintenance, with shop-provided scan tools and a flat team structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair light- and medium-duty diesel, domestic, and fleet vehicles.
- Perform a workload expected to consist of approximately 30% diagnostics and 70% maintenance.
- Complete intermediate to advanced drivability and electrical diagnostics using shop-provided scan tools.
- Perform general repairs, maintenance, inspections, and removal and replacement (R&R) work.
- Service brakes and suspension components, including kingpins.
- Perform tire inspections, rotations, balancing, and other tire-related services.
- Perform wheel alignments and related steering and suspension work.
- Diagnose and repair components such as box lights and lift gates.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of relevant automotive, diesel, fleet, or related technician experience.
- Intermediate to advanced diagnostic skills, including drivability and electrical diagnostics.
- Experience working with domestic, diesel, fleet, and light- to medium-duty vehicles.
- Experience with Isuzu, Peterbilt, Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet, Freightliner, or Hino vehicles is preferred.
- Experience with maintenance, brakes, suspension, tires, alignments, and general repairs.
- Must provide personal technician tools; scan tools are supplied by the shop.
- ASE certifications, state inspection licensing, and DVI experience are not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- $25-$45 per flagged hour, flat rate.
- Expected annual earnings of $70,000-$110,000; actual earnings may vary and are not guaranteed.
