Position Overview
Empower Health System is seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic healthcare team in Newport News, Virginia. In this full-time, onsite role, you will collaborate with licensed physical therapists to provide comprehensive care and enhance the rehabilitation process for patients across various age groups. The salary for this position ranges from USD 50,000 to 60,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will work at our state-of-the-art hospital facility located in Newport News, Virginia. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the licensed Physical Therapist in developing and implementing treatment plans, working within the framework of delegated responsibilities.
- Perform patient evaluations and document progress effectively to ensure continuity of care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing them with education on rehabilitation techniques and self-care activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies and state regulations, contributing to the overall organization of patient records.
- Implement effective infection control protocols and adhere to standard precautions during all patient interactions to ensure safety and minimize risks.
- Participate in ongoing education and training programs to stay updated with the latest physical therapy practices and fulfill mandatory professional development requirements.
- Leverage technology to enhance communication with team members and optimize the delivery of care.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will care for a diverse group of patients, including children, adults, and the elderly, who require physical therapy services for various conditions such as orthopedic injuries, post-operative recovery, neurological disorders, and chronic pain management. Your role is critical in providing tailored and effective therapy that addresses each patient’s individual rehabilitation needs and goals.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution is required.
- Licensure: A current and valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Virginia.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of hands-on experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant, with a strong emphasis on manual therapy techniques.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a hospital or rehabilitation setting is preferred, particularly in patient-centered environments.
- Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems to manage patient documentation efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal skills, showcasing the ability to work collaboratively within a clinical team.
