Job Description:

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of approximately 2,000 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the DON component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counterterrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters.  NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage and subversive activities. 

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Cloud Engineer, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the IT Technology Operations division within the NCIS ITD organization in Quantico, VA:

  • As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a critical role working closely with Cloud Architect to build, deploy, secure, automate, and manage the day-to-day cloud infrastructure. You will provide cloud service expertise in one or more of these areas: This includes building and managing the DevSecOps environment and CI/CD pipeline. You will lead the engineering effort and the technical vision for cloud-based solutions and ensure the environment supports both immediate and long-term organizational goals.

  • Build, deploy, secure, automate, and manage the day-today cloud infrastructure

  • Build full CI/CD pipeline from scratch deploying industry best practices and DevSecOps principles with tools like Jenkins and Terraform

  • Experience with provisioning infrastructure as code (IaC) using languages such as Python. Implementing comprehensive DevOps strategies and application requirements

  • Build and deploy docker containers with various software

  • Setup and configure identity and access management (IAM), storage accounts, storage access and security

  • Configure resource and activity monitoring and setup alarms and notifications

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing DevOps tools, such as GitHub and Jenkins, to enable continuous integration and continuous delivery

  • Experience with DevOps/Platforms: Azure and Amazon Web Services, Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes

  • Experience in design, developing IaC using Terraform/Cloud Formation/Ansible supporting a multi-cloud deployment

  • Experience configuring cloud network, virtual network, vnet peering, firewall, web application firewall, application gateway, load balancer, vpn and local vpn gateway, network security groups, cloud DNS/ADDS sync config, etc.

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues

  • Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements and cost efficiencies.

  • Develop and maintain cloud solutions in accordance with customer best practices and guidance.

  • Demonstrated experience working with Agile Scrum based development team. 

  • Experience with interacting with clients, providing cloud support, and making recommendations based on customer needs

  • Ensure recovery, support testing, and conducting O&M activities.

  • Ensure that performance, security, and other requirements are met.

  • Support Security personnel in obtaining and maintaining ATO.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Secret clearance. {Must be able to successfully obtain a TS/SCI post hire.}

  • Required Experience: 10+ years of Cloud Engineering/Architecture experience

  • Required Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional | Amazon Web Services (AWS) - Amazon Web Services (AWS), Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) | Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) - Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) | Microsoft - Microsoft

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline discipline; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • Work Location: Hybrid: 3 days onsite in Quantico VA; 2 days remote.

  • US Citizenship Required.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Documented Experience with DevOps/Platforms

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of DevSecOps approaches, CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices. Jenkins, Artifactory, Docker, Kubernetes, GOTS Nitro, Platforma

  • Identity and access management, PKI, encryption standards, logging, monitoring, and audit requirements

  • Experience and knowledge of major cloud platforms like AWS, MS Azure and government specific cloud services

  • Deep familiarity with federal security and compliance frameworks: FISMA, FedRAMP, RMF, and ATO processes

  • Compressive understanding of cloud models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and hybrid environments

  • Knowledge of product evaluation methodologies and cloud technology market trends

  • Familiarity with systems design documentation, architectural artifacts, and technical writing standards.

  • Cloud computing technology, containerization, Kubernetes

The likely salary range for this position is $164,382 - $195,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
