What you'll be doing

CIBC US provides tailored commercial banking, commercial real estate banking, private wealth management, personal and small business financial solutions, and cross-border banking services to clients with North American operations. As Director, Real Estate Management, you'll lead the delivery, and ongoing management of a defined corporate real estate portfolio with primary support for the Capital Markets business in New York, along with oversight for Houston and select locations within the surrounding territory. This role is focused on aligning real estate decisions, workplace planning, and facilities support to the needs of the business and delivering a strong employee and client experience across a targeted portfolio.

You'll oversee workplace planning, design, construction, facilities operations, lease administration, and vendor partnerships across your assigned portfolio. Working closely with business leaders and enterprise partners, you'll help ensure spaces are functional, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with business priorities. You'll also lead team members and third-party partners to deliver projects and operations efficiently and thoughtfully.

To successfully perform the work, you will be on-site full-time.

How you'll succeed

  • Portfolio leadership and business alignment - Lead the strategy and day-to-day management of a defined corporate real estate portfolio centered on New York, with oversight for Houston and select regional locations. Partner closely with Capital Markets and other business leaders to understand space needs, workplace priorities, and growth plans, and translate those into practical real estate solutions.

  • Real estate transactions and lease management - Support lease administration across the assigned portfolio.
Provide recommendations that balance business needs, market conditions, risk considerations, and financial objectives.

  • Workplace planning and project delivery - Direct workplace design, space planning, furniture, interior fit-out initiatives, and project execution across the portfolio. Lead projects from planning and design through vendor sourcing, negotiations, and delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and business requirements are met.

  • Facilities operations leadership - Oversee day-to-day facilities operations and maintenance, including building systems, landlord relationships, office services,
housekeeping, mailroom coordination, and occupant support. Ensure sites operate safely, effectively, and in alignment with business and client expectations.

  • Financial and vendor management - Manage budgets, forecasts, financial reporting, approvals, vendor payments, and real estate-related expenses for the portfolio. Build strong working relationships with brokers, architects, engineers, contractors, and service providers to deliver quality outcomes and value.

  • Cross-functional partnership and governance - Collaborate with business leaders and partners across Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Technology, Security, Human Resources, and enterprise real estate teams to support projects, workplace initiatives, business continuity, and regulatory alignment. Present recommendations and secure approvals for portfolio-related decisions.

  • People leadership - Lead and develop a high-performing team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and strong risk management. Provide oversight and direction to employees and third-party partners supporting the portfolio.

Who you are

  • You are a caring and accountable leader. You have experience setting team priorities, coaching employees, and driving execution through collaboration and accountability.

  • Your influence makes a difference. You build strong relationships with business leaders, enterprise partners, and vendors, and you use your expertise to guide sound decisions and drive outcomes.

  • You give meaning to data. You are comfortable analyzing lease, project, facilities, and financial information and turning it into clear recommendations for stakeholders.

  • You act like an owner. You take initiative, stay close to the business, and balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution.

  • You can demonstrate experience in corporate real estate, facilities management, lease administration, workplace planning, design and construction delivery, budgeting, and
vendor management. Experience supporting business aligned office portfolios in a complex corporate environment is strongly preferred.

  • You bring relevant scope of experience. You have experience managing a regional or territory-based corporate real estate portfolio, ideally supporting a major business group or executive client base. Experience with New York office environments, financial services, or fast-paced corporate workplace settings is a strong asset.

  • You're a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing in a relevant designation such as Certified Facility Manager (IFMA), Real Property Administrator (BOMA), or Master of Corporate Real Estate (CoreNet). It's an asset if you hold more than one industry-recognized real estate or facilities credential.

  • You have relevant experience. You bring 5-10 years of experience in corporate real estate, facilities management, workplace strategy, or a related field, with strong knowledge of leases, contracts, construction documents, building operations, and financial analysis.

  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
