Full job description
The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is in search of a Research Lab Technician II who can assist with an ongoing NIH-funded research on the role of noncoding RNAs in tobacco-related diseases. We look for a competitive individual who has a detailed understanding of the regulatory function of noncoding RNAs in controlling gene expression in health and disease states. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of and hands-on experience with routine molecular biology techniques, and familiarity with pre-processing and analysis of ‘omics’ data, including RNA-seq and miRNA-seq.
The successful candidate will have a B.S. degree in molecular biology, computational biology, computer sciences, bioinformatics, or related disciplines. Proficiency in R and/or Python and familiarity with bash/Linux command-line, cloud cluster computing, and database management, and possession of programming skills are highly desirable.
The hourly rate range for this position is $25.71 - $31.30. Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
