key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in facility maintenance, including theory and hands-on practice (e.g., HVAC basics, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, safety).
  • Develop instructional materials, lab exercises, and assessments aligned with industry standards and student learning outcomes.
  • Adapt instruction for adult learners, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Monitor and assess student progress; provide feedback, tutoring, and remediation as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with at least 4 years working in facilities maintenance or related trades (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry)
  • Strong knowledge of safety practices, tools, equipment, and relevant regulations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to a diverse student audience.
  • Reliable, organized, good at planning, with the ability to adapt lessons to varying student needs.
  • Basic computer skills for recordkeeping, digital tools, learning management, etc.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Applicable professional license (s).
  • Journeyman and/or post-secondary education.
  • Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience.
  • Experience with adults or non-traditional learners
