Full job description

Seeking an Intellectual Property Associate to join a well-established, full-service law firm with a nationally respected Intellectual Property practice and multiple office locations throughout Michigan and Florida. This is a great opportunity for an attorney early in their career who is passionate about intellectual property law and wants to gain hands-on experience in both patent prosecution and IP litigation.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with patent prosecution before the USPTO.
  • Support intellectual property litigation in state and federal courts.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Assist with trademark and other intellectual property matters.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and protect intellectual property portfolios.
  • Develop client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO, or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration examination.
  • 1-3 years of intellectual property experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Technical background required, with a preference for Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and responsiveness.
  • Outstanding client service skills and an interest in business development.
