Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a West Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 24 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine.

• 24 months gap required between for Travel at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine.

Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

Required Skills/Experience: Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Special Requests: If candidate worked at a permanent facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from that facility. Eligibility as current/previous employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers. At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to. Will make every effort to block schedule if requested.

Unit Details: Mainly 1:5-6 for both days and nights on most units; once or twice a month could have 7 patients toward the end of the shift, depending on patient acuity. Uses Phillips telemetry; most units have monitor techs. Charge nurse available on every unit; day charge does not take patients, night charge does take patients. All units use CNAs. Some units could have BiPAP or CPAP; RT manages. RT is in-house 24/7, and RNs perform aerosols for non-vented patients as well as EKGs. IV team available house-wide until 10 pm Monday-Friday and until 3:30 pm on weekends. In-house pharmacy 24/7; uses Accudose. Common diagnoses/types of patients include CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, ortho, and oncology. Permanent staff administer chemo.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday). Holiday rotation with permanent staff.

Floating Requirements: If floating to Critical Care, will be assigned med/surg or stepdown type patients.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 2 years
