A/B-Level Auto Technician | $40–$55/Flag Hr | M–F
Hale's Diesel & Auto Repair
Location: Midland, TX
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay: $40–$55 per flagged hour
Pay Type: Flat Rate / Commission-Based
Pay Schedule: Semi-monthly | 5th & 20th

- Tiered production incentive: technicians flagging over 70 hours receive an additional $4 per flagged hour; over 80 hours earns an additional $6 per flagged hour

What You’ll Be Doing
- Diagnose and repair diesel pickup trucks across engine, electrical, drivability, steering, suspension, braking, HVAC, transmission, and related vehicle systems
- Perform advanced automotive diagnostics and troubleshoot vehicle concerns accurately
- Complete major mechanical repairs as well as general automotive repair and maintenance
- Use scan tools and diagnostic equipment, including the shop’s Snap-on ZEUS and available OEM diagnostic resources
- Perform and document digital vehicle inspections using Tekmetric
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations clearly through the shop’s established workflow
- Work collaboratively with the shop foreman, service advisor, and other technicians to complete quality repairs efficiently
This role is approximately 90% diagnostic work and 10% general maintenance, so strong troubleshooting skills are essential.
Tools & Technology
You’ll have access to professional diagnostic equipment and systems, including:
- Snap-on ZEUS
- Ford IDS
- GM SPS
- Additional diagnostic and factory-level equipment
- Tekmetric shop management system
- Tekmetric DVI
Qualifications
- 4–5 years of relevant automotive repair experience
- Strong hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing diesel-engine pickup trucks
- Advanced diagnostic, electrical, drivability, and general mechanical repair skills
- Experience working on domestic vehicles, particularly Chevrolet, Ford, and Dodge
- Must have your own professional technician tools
- ASE certifications are a plus but are not required
- Digital vehicle inspection experience and Section 609 certification are pluses but are not required
- Motivated and productive work style

- Strong team-player mentality
Preferred Experience
- Ford, Chevrolet/GM, and Dodge/Ram experience
- Domestic truck repair experience
- Tekmetric and DVI experience
- EPA Section 609 A/C certification
