Job Summary/Overview
The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines and other production equipment in Department 44. This position also performs related production duties, including assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, painting, and handwork.

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines and other production equipment in Department 44. This position also performs related production duties, including assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, painting, and handwork.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines and related production equipment.
- Monitor machine operation and make basic adjustments as needed.
- Complete production assignments according to work orders and specifications.
- Perform and document required quality checks.
- Read manufacturing prints, drawings, and work order packets.
- Use measuring tools to verify that finished products meet specifications.
- Check and adjust coolant concentrations as needed.
- Change or replace tooling.
- Troubleshoot and correct minor machine or production issues.
- Assist with assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, painting, or handwork as required.
- Complete required production forms and documentation.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of hands-on CNC machine operation experience.
- Experience setting up, operating, and making adjustments to CNC machines.
- Understanding of fixture and tool offsets.
- Understanding of drilling cycles and how they work.
- Understanding of the differences between CNC lathes and vertical and horizontal machining centers.
- Experience operating similar CNC machines, such as Mazak, Haas, Makino, Okuma, Mori Seiki, or Fadal.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Ability to read and follow manufacturing prints, drawings, work orders, and production instructions.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor machine and production issues.
- Ability to safely lift, lower, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and wear required personal protective equipment.
Shift Hours and Overtime
- Regular schedule is Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
- Friday overtime may be scheduled starting at 2:00 p.m. for up to eight hours.
- Overtime may be optional or mandatory depending on production needs.
- Planned overtime schedules are typically posted at the beginning of each month.
