Complex Gynecology & Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) Faculty Physician
Riverside Health | Newport News, Virginia
Join our respected academic OB/GYN team at Riverside's OBGYN Residency in Newport News, Virginia. We are seeking either a MIGS fellowship-trained physician, or an experienced gynecologist with a strong background in advanced gynecologic and robotic surgery, with a passion for teaching and desire to train the next generation of OB/GYN physicians.
It is a newly created position to join our established OB/GYN Residency Program to provide advanced gynecologic, robotic surgery and resident education, surgical mentorship, and delivering exceptional gynecologic care. This position is focused exclusively on gynecology and does not include obstetrical responsibilities.
As a Faculty physician, you will join a collaborative team of physicians, educators, and clinical professionals dedicated to training the next generation of OB/GYN specialists. You will play an important role in resident education through clinical teaching, surgical mentorship, didactic instruction, and curriculum development while maintaining an active practice focused on complex benign gynecology and minimally invasive surgery.
Position Highlights:
100% Gynecology - no obstetrical responsibilities
Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including robotic-assisted surgery
Evaluation and management of complex benign gynecologic conditions
Gynecologic surgical consultations and referrals
Management of endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids, and other complex gynecologic disorders
Hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and advanced gynecologic surgical procedures
Inpatient gynecology service coverage
Emergency Department gynecology consultations
Add-on and urgent gynecologic surgical procedures
Resident education in both clinical and surgical settings
Development and delivery of residency didactics and educational programming
Leadership and oversight of the residency's EMIGS (Essentials in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery) curriculum and training activities
Opportunity for resident mentorship, scholarship, curriculum development, and educational innovation
Required Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology through ABOG
MIGS Fellowship training preferred, or significant experience in advanced gynecologic and robotic surgery
Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Virginia Board of Medicine
Current DEA registration
Fellow of ACOG preferred
Expertise in minimally invasive and complex gynecologic surgery
Passion for resident education and physician mentorship
Collaborative approach to working with physicians, residents, APPs, and other members of the care team

Hiring Range:
$335,000 - $385,000
Actual pay depends on specialty, experience, and performance.
