The Radar Digital Products Department in the Hardware Engineering Directorate at Raytheon is seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer with strong Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) design skills to join our team. This engineer will primarily develop and implement digital signal processing algorithms as well as implementing FPGA based designs for interface communications, controls and/or data processing applications. The individual is expected to work in a team environment and on various projects. The individual will be required to provide development support throughout the product lifecycle, from initial concept to acceptance delivery to maintenance.
This position can be for the Tewksbury, MA location or the Marlborough, MA location.
What You Will Do
Work with a team to determine the technical approach or solution to meet system level requirement to successfully complete FPGA-based designs, on time and on budget
May lead small teams and mentor junior engineers
Demonstrate self-motivation, with little supervision required
Design and deliver production quality FPGA releases from initial proof of concept up to production
Work cooperatively with systems, hardware, software engineers, and program management to ensure product success
Demonstrate the ability to architect FPGA-based systems to determine parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
Translate system level requirements into FPGA requirements
Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability
Verify designs utilizing self-checking techniques with directed and constrained random tests, while tracking functional and code coverage
Create complete documentation including requirements, verification plan, and user’s guides
Support internal and external technical reviews
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
Experience implementing DSP functions (ie. FFTs, FIR filters, etc) in FPGAs using VHDL/Verilog and VHDL simulation tools
Experience designing filters in Matlab
Experience with high speed interfaces such as 100 GbE, PCIE, DDR
Experience with Timing Closure and utilizing Chipscope / Signal Tap
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with RADAR system hardware
Experience developing DSP algorithms and FPGA designs using High Level Synthesis (HLS)
Working knowledge/course work of signal & image processing, digital communications and/or control theories
Experience using synthesis tools including Synplify and back-end tools including Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus and others
Experience and knowledge developing and selling off requirements for FPGAs
Working knowledge of Configuration Management principles, environments and tools
Working knowledge in common computer hardware interface and data protocols such as RS-422, USB, PCIe, etc.
Working knowledge and experience with configuration management tools such as Synergy, Clearcase, or git
Proficiency in Linux
Working knowledge in the integration of software drivers for the operation of computer hardware interfaces a plus
Working knowledge of C/C++ and/or in computer scripting language such as Shell/Perl/Python a plus
Willingness to support occasional domestic travel and potential international travel
Existing security clearance

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
