Description of Work

**THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN DISTRICT 3 – NASH COUNTY AND SUPPORTS SURROUNDING AREAS/DISTRICTS**

This position will train and certify school bus drivers in the classroom and behind the wheel. It is responsible for teaching safe driving procedures for school bus driver defensive driving courses, driver improvement clinics and other safety programs. It will conduct vision and medical screenings for driver education classes. It will provide training and certification for commercial driver training instructors. It also inspects commercial driver training schools and vehicles for compliance with state and county laws. It also investigates complaints involving commercial driver training schools. This position completes the required weekly reports to be submitted to central office. It is also responsible for compiling and maintaining all work-related reports and files.

The Program area for this position includes one or more of the following: Experience Training and Teaching, Experience Auditing, Driving a bus, working knowledge of DMV or Federal computer programs and/or Inspecting Vehicles for CDL Law.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC 12/ $47,803.00-$83,479.00

Management prefers applicants with the following:

  • Experience providing instruction in a classroom setting
  • Experience developing or revising lesson plans
  • Experience completing and maintaining reports and/or files
  • Experience with Microsoft applications
  • Previously or currently possess a Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a P (Passenger) and S (School Bus) endorsements for at least 2 years

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
