Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments.   • Schedule: Full-Time, 36 Hours per Week
  • Shift: Nights, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM

Sign-On Bonus

About the Surgical & Orthopedic Care Unit

Join a fast-paced, high-acuity 30-bed Surgical and Orthopedic Unit that cares for a diverse population of medical and post-surgical patients. Nurses on this unit gain valuable experience in both medical-surgical nursing and orthopedic nursing while working alongside a collaborative interdisciplinary team.

Patient Populations Include:

  • Orthopedic surgery patients including total knee, hip, and shoulder replacements
  • Post-operative general surgery patients
  • Appendectomies
  • Cholecystectomies
  • Colon resections
  • Bariatric surgery patients
  • Sepsis treatment and recovery
  • Pancreatitis care
  • Stable pneumothorax management

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Required Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program

Licensure

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Missouri RN License or Compact State RN License
  • Must meet all applicable state board of nursing requirements

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
  • Additional unit-specific certifications as required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, twist, and perform physical patient care activities
