Department Details

The Video Monitoring team plays a vital role in supporting patient safety across the Marshfield Clinic Region, serving patients in eleven hospitals. As a Monitor Technician (Video), you will act as an extension of the care team by providing continuous video observation of patients who require additional monitoring to remain safe. Using advanced video surveillance technology, you will closely observe patient activity, recognize potential safety concerns, and promptly notify nursing staff when a patient requires assistance or intervention. Your attentiveness and timely communication help prevent falls, self-harm, and other safety events while supporting positive patient outcomes across the organization.

In this role, you will continuously monitor designated patients through live video feeds, follow established observation protocols and response algorithms, and interpret concerning behaviors or alarming events that require escalation. You may provide verbal redirection to help patients avoid at-risk behaviors and will collaborate closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate follow-up. Job Summary

The Monitor Tech provides support services. Some duties include: basic computer keyboarding skills, tearing down and assembling patient charts as appropriate, calling other departments to inform them of ordered tests and procedures as needed, and stocking supplies. In addition, the monitor tech will be responsible in monitoring and interpreting patient heart rhythms and vital signs as well as following set algorithm parameters that may raise alarms. Ability to interpret alarms and follow through with appropriate communication as needed.

Depending on location, the monitor tech may also be providing continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. Summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Follows set algorithms, interprets alarming events, and follows through with appropriate communication as needed.

Qualifications

High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required.

Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
