A Brief Overview
Performs decontamination and sterilization procedures according to Infection Control and QA guidelines. Provides the physicians, OR staff, and nurses with products safe for patient use on a routine basis or as emergency needs demand.
What you will do
- Performs decontamination, assembly and sterilization, according to Infection Control and established QA monitoring guidelines as demonstrated by annual competency review.
- Operates sterilization equipment which includes: steam, ETO, and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaner, washer/sterilizer, and automated cart washer.
- Operates equipment according to manufacturer operational directions and in a manner that ensures the safety of the operator as demonstrated by annual competency review.
- Utilizes computer to access information; communication with manager, supervisors and co-workers.
- Reports broken and malfunctioning instruments and equipment to the supervisor or manager.
- Utilizes desktop and laptop computers and handheld PDA for instrument decontamination, assembly and tracking functions.
- Answers phones and meets customer’s needs in a professional manner.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- High School or GED Equivalent
