• Hourly pay ranging from $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on experience and certification

• Full-time position, Monday through Friday

  • Typical schedule: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM

  • No routine on-call rotation or weekend work; rare emergency weekend coverage may be required on occasion.

Your New Role

• Work as a Residential HVAC Service Technician in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, helping homeowners maintain comfortable, safe, and efficient homes.

• Diagnose residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and complete repairs efficiently and accurately.

• Conduct preventive maintenance, routine HVAC inspections, and system checks to help prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.

• Assist with residential HVAC installations to support proper operation, reliable performance, and energy efficiency.

• Service heating and cooling equipment while following applicable HVAC standards and safe work practices.

• Work with American Standard equipment, Thomas Cooling & Heating’s primary brand along with other heating and cooling equipment as needed.

• Maintain accurate service records and submit paperwork promptly.

• Collect customer payments when required.

• Communicate directly with homeowners to understand their comfort needs, explain findings, and recommend appropriate HVAC solutions.

• Deliver professional customer service and quality workmanship that supports homeowner satisfaction and dependable system performance.

• Maintain tidy, professional work areas and respect customers’ homes.

• Communicate clearly with customers, technicians, office staff and company leadership.

• Take ownership of your work in the field and know when additional support is needed.

• Be a good representative of Thomas Cooling & Heating.

• Minimum of 2 years of residential HVAC service technician experience

• Recent residential HVAC service diagnostics and repair experience

• EPA certification required

• Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable under company vehicle insurance requirements

• Ability to meet applicable pre-employment drug screening and background check requirements

• Be confident troubleshooting heating and cooling systems and tracking problems back to their actual source.

• Know how to service and repair residential HVAC equipment using proper diagnostic procedures rather than relying on guesswork.

• Know how to use meters, gauges and other standard HVAC testing and diagnostic equipment.

• Be able to inspect system performance, interpret diagnostic results and determine appropriate next steps based on findings

• Ability to read and write English as needed to safely perform job duties, understand technical information, and communicate with customers

• Ability to communicate technical findings in clear, practical terms so homeowners understand the condition of their HVAC system and available service options.

• Ability to move up to 50 pounds and perform essential physical duties with or without reasonable accommodation

• Ability to climb ladders and work in attics, crawl spaces, and other areas commonly encountered during residential HVAC service, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

• Stay open to learning new equipment, diagnostic methods, technology and HVAC service practices as the trade evolves.
