Job Summary
EEG/EMG TechPosition is responsible for performing electroencephalograph (EEG) and other neurodiagnostic examinations according to physician’s orders under the supervision of the department manager.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associates degree, preferred
Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support certification
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Minimum three (3) years directly related experience and an Associates degree from an accredited Neurodiagnostic program; or five (5) years' experience if no Associates degree.
Eligible to take the National Registry exam.
Principal Accountabilities
Receives and records physician’s orders for patient testing: schedules patients, obtains patient medical history and completes appropriate documentation.
Prepares patients for procedures explains procedure, measures for accurate electrode sites, applies electrodes and adjusts as appropriate.
Performs advanced neurodiagnostic exams depending on modality maintains equipment and makes minor adjustments as indicated.
May be responsible for scheduling other techs, assisting the department manager as needed, and performing entry-level supervisory duties.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
