Work Environment

The work setting is onsite at our integrated hospital facility in Plattsburgh, where our orthopedic clinic operates. Working Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, you will engage directly with patients and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation of treatment plans developed by licensed physical therapists, ensuring that all rehabilitative activities are tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Provide hands-on therapy through therapeutic exercises, including strength training, range of motion activities, and manual techniques, to enhance patient recovery.
  • Monitor and document patient progress meticulously during each session, providing necessary updates and adjustments to treatment plans to optimize outcomes.
  • Educate patients on proper exercise techniques and progression, empowering them to take an active role in their recovery process.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team comprising physicians, nurses, and medical staff to ensure highly coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and chronic pain conditions. Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or relevant field.
  • Current active state PTA license with a commitment to upholding licensure requirements.
  • A minimum of two years of experience specifically within orthopedic rehabilitation settings.
  • Proficient understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to provide informed care.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to enhance patient interactions and facilitate effective teamwork.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience utilizing electronic medical records (EMR) systems for record-keeping and patient documentation.
  • Background in pre-and post-operative rehabilitation protocols.
  • Exposure to patient education programs or workshops related to physical therapy practices.

Compensation and Benefits
