Full job description
A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)
Daily shift toolbox meeting, covering safety, quality, general announcements, and distribution of work. Perform machining repairs on steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, and other related equipment. Working alongside a team of mechanics, machinists, weld technicians, inspectors, engineers and project managers to repair critical turbomachinery equipment. Customers include oil refineries, petrochemical plants, power plants, universities and hospitals. Work daily under direct guidance from experienced shop leadman and supervisor.

How You'll Make an Impact (responsibilities)
- Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools to manufacture, modify, repair, and finish components to strict tolerances.
- Read and interpret drawings, prints, sketches, bills of materials, and OEM specifications to produce and repair parts to quality standards.
- Inspect completed work using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, dial indicators) and record inspection data and photographs using tablet devices.
- Perform part finishing and fitting activities, including deburring, grinding, filing, tool adjustments, and setup of standard and metric tooling.
- Maintain machines, coolant logs, and work areas while following preventive maintenance, safety requirements, and shop procedures.
- Collaborate with repair engineers and project managers to execute repairs, complete required documentation, and support safe, efficient shop operations.
- High School Diploma or GED required, with the ability to interpret shop instructions, manufacturing drawings, and precision measuring tools.
- Familiarity with repair shop tools, equipment, and the use of scales, micrometers, and related measuring devices.
- Must provide a medium-sized rolling toolbox with standard hand tools (e.g., hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers up to 1¼").
- Self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to perform assigned tasks with limited supervision and maintain consistent attendance.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn, accept feedback, and continuously improve.
- Strong work ethic and flexibility to work overtime, including occasional weekends and holidays, as required by customer schedules.
