Fire Alarm Project Manager – Madison, WI

$100,000–$110,000 | Fire Alarm & Life Safety Projects

Position Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Project Manager to oversee commercial fire alarm projects from kickoff through final inspection and closeout. This role is ideal for someone who understands the technical side of fire alarm systems but also knows how to keep technicians, schedules, budgets, contractors, and customers moving in the same direction.

You’ll manage multiple projects simultaneously, work closely with sales, engineering, field teams, contractors, and AHJs, and take ownership of delivering quality installations on time and within budget.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage multiple fire alarm projects from planning through installation, commissioning, inspection, and closeout
  • Develop project schedules, track budgets, and coordinate labor and materials
  • Conduct jobsite visits to monitor progress, quality, and project requirements
  • Coordinate technicians, contractors, customers, vendors, engineering teams, and other project stakeholders
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, permits, and change orders
  • Ensure installations meet approved drawings, applicable codes, and project specifications
  • Provide technical direction and troubleshooting support to field technicians
  • Coordinate equipment purchasing, deliveries, warranties, and replacements
  • Identify project risks and resolve scheduling, scope, technical, and customer issues
  • Participate in Fire Marshal/AHJ walkthroughs and inspections when required
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle

What We’re Looking For

  • Project management experience within fire alarm, fire protection, life safety, electrical, or a closely related construction environment
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial fire alarm systems
  • Understanding of applicable NFPA, IBC, and life safety codes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents
  • Experience coordinating field technicians, subcontractors, materials, schedules, and project resources
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple active projects and deadlines
  • Comfortable working directly with customers, contractors, inspectors, and AHJs
  • Ability to obtain required licensing and NICET Level II within one year of employment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Proven Project Management experience within the fire protection or construction industry
  • In-depth knowledge of fire alarm systems, codes, and standards, including NFPA and IBC
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet project deadlines
  • Proficiency with project management software and tools
  • Ability and willingness to obtain all required licenses and NICET Level II certification within one year of employment
