Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Emergency Department | Level I Trauma Center
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring part-time LPNs for our Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing emergency nursing team where clinical skill, teamwork, and purpose come together to make an immediate impact for patients and families across the region.

Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital – Norfolk, VA
Position Status: Part-time, 24 hours per week
Shift: Evening shift positions available
Available Hours:
11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Weekends: Every other weekend availability required
Holiday Rotation: Required

At Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Emergency Department nurses care for patients in one of the region’s most advanced and fast-paced clinical environments. Our 53-bed Emergency Department is equipped to manage a wide range of medical emergencies, with approximately 10% of cases related to trauma.
As part of a Level I Trauma Center, you will work alongside experienced emergency medicine providers, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care when patients need it most. Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment.
Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award, honoring exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.
Education Requirements
Degree or diploma in Licensed Practical Nursing required
Students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered
Certification/Licensure Requirements
Licensed Practical Nurse license required
Students in the process of obtaining a LPN license may be considered
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
Experience Requirements
Prior LPN experience preferred
Emergency Department experience preferred
Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $28.57 - $43.04 hourly.

Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
