Description

American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist with 2+ years of IR experience, including required neuro experience, for a 13-week contract on a day-shift schedule.
Details

Interventional Radiology unit within an acute care hospital setting
Procedures include stroke intervention, intracranial embolization, kyphoplasty, carotid and vertebral stenting, nephrostomy and biliary placement, chemoembolization, Therasphere mapping and infusion, mesenteric angiogram, UAE, GAE, PAE, chest port, and perm cath placement
Abdominal and pelvic procedures include angioplasty, chemoembolization, embolization, IVC filter placement and removal, inferior vena cavagram, mesenteric angiogram, pelvic angiography, percutaneous hepatic angiography, renal angiography, selective visceral angiography, and superior vena cavogram
Genitourinary procedures include angiography, catheter/drain exchange, cholecystostomy, embolization, gastrostomy, internal/external biliary drainage, nephrostomy, percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram, renal angiography, ureteral stent placement, and uterine arterial embolization
Neurological procedures include carotid angiography, embolization, stent placement, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, and vertebroplasty
Vascular procedures include angioplasty, carotid stenting, central venous access/port placement, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, and TIPS
Venous access procedures include central venous access (non-tunneled/PICC lines)
Equipment used includes fluoroscopy (required), GE Innova Single Plane, and Siemens Artis Biplane (x2)
EMR systems include Epic (required) and Pyxis
5x8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Call requirement: one day per week on a rotating schedule (Tuesday, Thursday, Monday, Wednesday, and weekends)
Weekend requirement: approximately one weekend every 6–7 weeks
No float requirement
13-week contract
Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of Interventional Radiology and special procedures experience required
Neuro IR experience is required
ARRT and BLS required; license required if applicable
Experience with fluoroscopy required
Proficiency with PACS, equipment setup, room circulation, and maintaining sterile field required
Experience with 3D imaging, isolation precautions/PPE, lead tech responsibilities, and rapid response/code team protocols required
Sterile technique proficiency required
Epic EMR experience required
Previous stroke-certified hospital experience preferred
First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending at time of consideration is acceptable, but required prior to start)
Additional Information

Responsibilities include equipment setup, prepping access sites, room circulation, scrubbing and maintaining sterile field, maintaining equipment and PACS, and stocking supplies
3D imaging and use of rapid response/code teams are part of the daily scope of practice
Orientation is approximately 40 hours; orientation start day may vary (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week) and candidates must be fully available with no other commitments during orientation week — missing any portion may result in a delayed or canceled start
8–10 hours of pre-start online modules are required and must be completed prior to the start date and annually thereafter
Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday — additional RTO requires facility approval and excessive call-offs may result in contract cancellation
Former permanent, PRN, or EP staff employees of this health system must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible at a different rate
Light blue scrubs are required and are not provided
ARRT CI and ARRT VI certifications are preferred
Preferred equipment experience includes GE Innova IGS, Siemens, and ultrasound
Preferred skills include dialysis graft interventions (fistulograms/declots), upper and lower extremity angiography, EKG lead placement, vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose), and PICC/central line care and maintenance
Travel pairs are allowed but each candidate must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
