Full job description
Northwell Health in conjunction with Lenox Hill Hospital and the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is seeking a full-time academic Chair of Plastic Surgery. The candidate should have 10+ years of experience. Previous leadership experience is preferred.
This is an exceptional opportunity to lead and grow a well-established and highly respected Plastic Surgery department. The qualified candidate will oversee a supportive environment with experienced plastic surgery colleagues, physician assistants, fellows and residents in our training program.
Position Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Provide leadership and oversight for all employed and independent physicians within the Department of Plastic Surgery
Maintain an active clinical practice while supporting departmental growth and development
Develop engagement, alignment, and collaboration among department members and with other clinical departments across the health system
Lead initiatives focused on quality, patient safety, operational excellence, and program development
Advance departmental growth through strategic planning, recruitment, and service line expansion
Support educational initiatives involving Plastic Surgery residents and fellows within the Northwell Health system
Partner with hospital and system leadership on administrative, financial, and operational priorities
Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, diversity, and physician engagement
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
Board Certification in Plastic Surgery
Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of New York
Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic or clinically integrated health system environment
A proven track record of clinical excellence, physician engagement, and program growth
Experience with graduate medical education, resident and fellow teaching, and mentorship preferred
