Hours/Week: 20 (8:00 AM 5:00 PM)
Potential: Up to 40 hours/week
Job Summary
Provide routine and emergency medical care to patients in a correctional facility setting. Ensure proper diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient health while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver routine and emergency medical care, including:
o Examining, diagnosing, and treating patients
o Prescribing medications and treatments for acute and chronic conditions
o Performing minor surgical procedures
o Administering vaccinations and inoculations
o Conducting routine physical examinations for employment or claims purposes
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals:
o Participate in professional and interdisciplinary team meetings
o Consult with other physicians for specialized care
o Act as a consultant to social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other staff
o Provide guidance and training to nursing and technical staff
• Documentation and reporting:
o Prepare medical evaluations, admission, discharge, and death summaries
o Interpret laboratory results and medical findings
o Maintain accurate patient progress records
o Issue orders and instructions to nursing and support staff
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Knowledge: English, anatomy, physiology, medicine, psychology
• Skills: Administering treatments and medications
• Abilities: Handle sensitive patient interactions, interpret medical material, and determine appropriate courses of action
Minimum Qualifications
• Doctoral Degree in Medicine
• Valid State Medical License
• Certificate to practice medicine issued by the State Medical Board of Ohio (or equivalent for foreign medical graduates with pending licensing)
• CPR Certification
