SUMMARY OF POSITION:

To perform a variety of standardized operations by cutting and assemblying various sizes, lengths and types of polyflex thermoplastic hoses and appropriate connections in multiple assembly cells.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A Hose Assembler B must be capable of performing the following tasks with minimal supervision:

1. Ensure all equipment is calibrated in accordance with calibration schedule
2. Follow guidelines for proper set up for assembly and the actual assembly of product
3. Perform ordinary set up on special purpose hose assembly machines involving selection and positioning of size dies, check jaws, blocks and special holding devices
4. Perform basic assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures and inspection measurement equipment (i.e. pressure test, saw, hydraulic press, calipers, rulers and height gauge)
5. Assemble proper fittings to hose, exercising proper care to avoid excessive pressure and tighten fittings as needed to avoid crossing of threads
6. Assembles values with instructions and supervision in a work cell
7. Inspect and test each product produced to proper pressure and ensure quality standards are met, record test results on data forms
8. Insert plastic caps on each end of hose to protect end fitting threads
9. Clean hose/hose cover with cleaning solution
10. Engage in business/team meetings when necessary
11. Assist with problem solving efforts to improve operational efficiency
12. Maintain work area in clean and orderly fashion, follow 5S practices
13. Know and practice all safety regulations and quality guidelines
14. Raise quality or technical issues to Hose Assembler Lead
15. Perform work of an equal or lower classification

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
2. Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
3. Other duties may be assigned at a later time

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

• Report directly to Value Stream Manager
• Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, safety vests)
2. Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis
3. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions
4. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
