About Alicat Scientific

Help make cool instruments while building a community we are proud of.

Alicat Scientific is a leading manufacturer of precision flow and pressure instrumentation, headquartered in Tucson, Arizona. Our U.S. team of approximately 260 employees supports engineering, manufacturing, sales, and operations for customers worldwide.

Position Summary

Alicat Scientific is seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Specialist to support the full employee lifecycle for our U.S. workforce. This role is a hands-on individual contributor position responsible for day-to-day HR operations, employee relations support, benefits administration, compliance, and recruiting coordination for our Tucson-based team. This position focuses exclusively on U.S. operations and does not carry responsibility for our international sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys varied, hands-on work in a manufacturing environment and wants to play a key role in building out HR processes as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for U.S. employees on HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
  • Support managers with performance management processes, coaching, and documentation.
  • Assist with employee relations issues, investigations, and conflict resolution, escalating complex matters as appropriate.

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for assigned requisitions: posting roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and extending offers.
  • Own the new hire onboarding process, including paperwork, orientation, and first-90-days check-ins.
  • Partner with hiring managers across manufacturing, engineering, sales, and corporate functions to understand staffing needs.

Benefits & Compensation Administration

  • Administer U.S. employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, 401(k), leave programs), serving as the go-to resource for employee questions.
  • Support open enrollment processes and coordinate with benefits brokers/vendors.
  • Assist with compensation administration, including offer letters, salary changes, and job level documentation.

Compliance & Recordkeeping

  • Ensure compliance with federal and Arizona state employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA recordkeeping, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate, compliant employee records and HRIS data.
  • Support audits, EEO-1 reporting, and other required filings.
  • Stay current on changes in federal and Arizona employment law and flag necessary policy updates.

HR Programs & Process Improvement

  • Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and internal communications.
  • Help maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve HR processes as the company scales.
  • Assist with HR reporting and metrics (turnover, time-to-fill, headcount) for leadership.

Manufacturing & Site Support

  • Provide HR support tailored to both office/corporate staff and manufacturing floor employees.
  • Partner with EHS/facilities on workplace safety-related HR matters (e.g., workers' compensation, accommodation requests).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR generalist/specialist experience; manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of U.S. federal and Arizona state employment law.
  • Experience with full-cycle recruiting and benefits administration.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred, not required.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and discretion/confidentiality skills.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small HR team supporting a growing organization.

Location

This is an on-site position based at Alicat Scientific's headquarters in Tucson, Arizona. Occasional presence on the manufacturing floor is required to support employees and managers there.
