Position Overview
The Athletics Therapy Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team at our state-of-the-art hospital facility in Annandale, Virginia. This full-time role focuses on assisting patients in their recovery journey, enabling them to regain mobility, strength, and independence through personalized therapeutic interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Implement individualized treatment plans under the direction and supervision of licensed physical therapists, adhering strictly to best practices and safety standards.
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and daily living activities, ensuring each session is tailored to their unique recovery needs.
- Document and track patient progress meticulously, sharing insights with the care team to adjust treatment plans as necessary for optimal outcomes.
- Maintain an encouraging and engaging environment during therapy sessions, motivating patients through positive reinforcement and compassionate support.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care efforts that enhance each patient’s rehabilitation experience.

Patient Population / Client Focus
The PTA will primarily work with diverse patient populations, including older adults recovering from surgeries, injuries, or chronic illnesses. Understanding the specific needs associated with geriatric care, along with compassion and understanding, is crucial for facilitating their recovery journey and improving their quality of life.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or a related field from an accredited program.
- A valid and active Physical Therapist Assistant license for the state of Virginia (or eligibility for licensure).
- Demonstrated strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with patients and their families.
- Possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills to adapt treatment plans based on patient progress.
Preferred Experience
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant, particularly within hospital or rehabilitation settings.
- Preferred experience in geriatrics or long-term care environments, understanding the unique challenges faced by the elderly.
- A proven track record in a fast-paced clinical setting, showcasing the ability to manage responsibilities effectively.
