Full job description
MedStar Ambulatory Services is committed to providing world-class compassionate care to every patient every time at every touch point. All associates are accountable for their role in meeting patient experience standards. Performs clinical and administrative duties in the MedStar Ambulatory Services Settings consistent with policies & procedures. Works under the supervision of a physician and performs patient triage care pathways venipuncture laboratory testing and patient follow up. Clinical Care Specialists (CCSs) certified as Radiologic Technologists also perform and transmit X-ray diagnostic images. This position documents as appropriate in the medical record and supports optimal patient flow.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required and
- Completion of an approved R.T. Program required and
- Associate's degree preferred and
- Completion of an approved M.A. program preferred
- Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting required and
- 1-2 years 2+ years of medical office experience; experience working with electronic medical records preferred
- ARRT ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required and
- American Board of Radiology - ABR Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland required and
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA In addition to ARRT a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) by American Association of Medical Assistants preferred or
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)-American Medical Technologists RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) through American Medical Technologies preferred
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
- Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
- Clinical competency as verified during the initial 90 day orientation period and annually thereafter.
- Excellent customer service/patient interaction skills; computers and electronic medical record skills and ability to function in a variable multi-specialty clinical setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to multitask and work with several physicians in different specialties.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
