Edward Jones is seeking an Embedded Security Architect to partner directly with the Solution Architecture organization and business-aligned technology teams. This role operates as a trusted advisor—embedded within delivery teams—to influence architectural decisions early and ensure security is designed into modern SaaS, cloud-native, and hybrid solutions.
The Embedded Security Architect balances strong cybersecurity depth with pragmatic solution architecture thinking, enabling business outcomes while reducing risk.
What You'll Do:
The Security Architect will be responsible for embedding long-term with solution architecture teams aligned to specific business portfolios, acting as the primary security architecture advisor throughout ideation, design, delivery, and evolution of solutions.
- Collaborate with solution architects, product owners, and engineering teams to ensure security requirements are understood and implemented early in the design process.
- Advocate for a security-by-design approach in cloud and digital transformation initiatives.
- Partner, review, and co-design architecture to ensure security controls are embedded into designs and patterns, as well as supporting scalability, reliability, and compliance.
- Contribute to security patterns, guidelines, and reusable artifacts to support secure-by-design practices across teams.
- Provide guidance on technology selection and operational processes for running systems in a cloud environment.
- Participate in proof-of-concept efforts for new SaaS and IaaS applications to advocate for and translate security requirements.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in cybersecurity, including time spent influencing or designing security within complex solution architectures.
- Experience advising on security architecture for on-premises as well as SaaS, PaaS, and cloud-native solutions, including API integrations and third-party platforms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to challenge designs constructively and build alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be able to present effectively to multiple audiences including firm-wide business units, senior leaders, associates, and external vendors.
- Ability to translate security requirements into actionable guidance for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience developing and applying cloud security policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27001).
What Could Set You Apart:
- Hands-on experience and subject matter expertise with Microsoft Azure.
- Experience securing SaaS platforms and integrations, including identity federation, API security, data protection, and vendor trust models.
- Practical understanding of cloud-native and SaaS security tooling (CASB, CSPM, CIEM, identity platforms).
- Working knowledge across infrastructure and application domains, including networking, storage, operating systems, identity and access management (IAM), privileged access management (PAM), single sign-on (SSO), encryption standards, and vendor engagement.
- Technology background in the financial sector.
- Experience promoting secure-by-design principles in agile or DevOps environments.
- Understanding of various regulatory requirements and laws such as Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and New York Codes Rules and Regulations (NYCRR).
- Microsoft Architect certifications, ISC2 certifications, SANS certifications.
