Embedded Systems Security Engineer

Our client, a leading organization in the technology industry, is seeking an Embedded Systems Security Engineer to join their team. As an Embedded Systems Security Engineer, you will be part of the Security Engineering Department supporting the development and deployment of secure embedded Linux platforms. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Embedded Systems Security Engineer

Location: Foster City, CA

Pay Range: $90-$95/hour + Benefits

What's the Job?

• Design and implement hardware root of trust and secure boot architectures for embedded Linux platforms.
• Develop cryptographic defense mechanisms and automate security pipelines within CI/CD workflows.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure secure device provisioning and reliable device deployment at scale.
• Implement storage and integrity management solutions such as dm-verity and data encryption at rest.
• Develop, integrate, and maintain trusted execution environments (TEEs) and enforce application sandboxing strategies.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• 6+ years of professional experience in embedded Linux development, board bring-up, and BSP customization.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience deploying device-level security features into physical production hardware.
• Expert knowledge of bootloader configurations (e.g., U-Boot, Barebox) and Linux kernel storage/security subsystems.
• Proficiency in C programming and scripting skills in Python or Bash.
