The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $28.13 to $29.13.
This position is Non-Exempt under the FLSA.

The Courtroom Technology Specialist utilizes subject matter expertise and courtroom technology knowledge to provide user support to judicial officers, court staff, and courtroom participants for various courtroom technology devices in support of courtroom operations in a physical and hybrid setting. They resolve moderate to complex audio-visual issues and assist judicial staff and attorneys in the use of courtroom technology in connecting to and resolving issues using presentation technology during court proceedings. The Courtroom Technology Specialist evaluates problems, determines resolutions, and implements support when necessary.

Position Qualifications

Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
- Three (3) years of technology-related work experience which may include audio video technology, computer/network maintenance, desktop support, applications support, or other related user support in a large Microsoft environment.
OR
Combined education and experience qualifications:
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and job-related experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements:
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license.
Our Preferred Candidate has:
- Training and certification in Microsoft Windows 10/11 environment.
- Training and certification in Office 365 applications.
- Knowledge of A/V hardware installations and configurations.
- Experience with A/V technologies by companies such as Crestron, Biamp-Tesira, WolfVision, Williams Sound, Shure, Audio-Technica, Logitech, Yamaha, and Q-Sys.
- Experience supporting court recording, digital evidence presentation, video conferencing, or similar mission-critical technologies.
- Experience working in a judicial, public-sector, legal, or other highly regulated environment.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Service management software such as ServiceNow.
- Video conferencing software such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom
- Microsoft-based network environments, including connectivity and basic troubleshooting concepts.
- Office 365 applications including Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Information security, confidentiality, and the appropriate handling of sensitive court information and technology resources.
- Workplace safety practices related to equipment installation, tools, ladders, cabling, lifting, and working around installed technology.
Skill in:
- Providing exceptional customer service in a time sensitive environment.
- Explaining technical ideas and solutions to an audience with varying technological knowledge.
- Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
- Verbally communicating with others to convey information effectively.
- Configuring, troubleshooting, and fixing moderate to complex technical problems.
- Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Ability to:

- Quickly learn and effectively use virtual justice platforms and specialized Judicial Branch software applications.
- Proactively monitor live court proceedings and review recorded audio files to verify recording quality, perform same-day quality assurance spot checks, identify audio or system issues, and facilitate timely troubleshooting to ensure the integrity and accurate preservation of the official court record.
- Provide highly responsible administrative and technical work performed independently with minimal supervision.
- To work effectively with judges, court staff, courtroom participants, and the public.
- Be adaptable, and work in a fast-paced, team environment with a positive, winning attitude.

Essential Job Tasks
(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)
- Acts as a specialized technician among a team of IT support staff whose main duty is to respond to employee, management, and judicial officer requests for technical assistance by fixing problems with Audio Visual hardware, and applications related to in-person, or hybrid hearings, utilizing the Court Connect / Teams system.
- Provides expertise in the use of all courtroom technology including bench touch panel, room controls, camera(s), microphones, digital evidence connections, assisted listening audio devices, bench conference headsets, projectors, display monitors and other courtroom technology tools.
- Support meeting room video conference systems at various locations.
- Coordinates regional site technical services with Court Administration leadership and supports site users.
- Provides judicial staff training in the use of courtroom technology and equipment, including assistance with onboarding, and responds to courtroom support issues to ensure hearing schedules are not adversely impacted.
- Documents all user contact and problem resolutions in ServiceNow.
- Adheres to Service Level Agreements to meet guidelines for timely response and issue resolution.
- Provide in-room technical operation of equipment.
- Performs a daily process for certifying that all courtroom technology is functioning properly and reports any deficiencies per escalation procedures.
- Participates in weekly preventative maintenance routine to discover and address technology issues in a proactive manner.
- Assists with coordination of access to courtrooms to support vendor service delivery and/or installations.
- Works cooperatively to complete work, share workloads and determine priorities as a team.
- Evaluates current workflows for efficiency and communicates with Court Technology Services operations to ensure technical needs are being met.
- Completes side projects when court hearing frequency is low.
- Add to the knowledge base by creating documentation of technical solutions to improve team performance.
- Participates in asset management programs to best track court equipment and reduce waste.
Working conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan. Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position may be reassigned to other locations. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
