Entry-Level and Customer-Facing Roles - Walser Automotive Group, South Metro

No Auto Experience? Perfect. We Will Teach You.

One application. A dozen ways in. Start where you fit, grow where you want.

Location: South Metro, Minnesota (multiple locations)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience Required: None - we train

Most people who build a career at Walser did not arrive knowing anything about cars. They arrived knowing how to show up, treat people well, and figure things out. We handled the rest, and we still do.

This is a single application that puts you in front of hiring managers across our South Metro locations. It covers both sides of the store, sales and service, so you only fill this out once no matter which direction you are leaning.

Roles We Are Filling Now

Sales Side

  • Customer Specialist
  • Sales Assistant
  • Sales Valet
  • Vehicle Photographer

For people who want to be in front of customers and want their effort to show up in their paycheck.

Service Side

  • Service Advisor
  • Lube Tech
  • Service Runner

For people who like solving problems, working with their hands, or both.

Either Side - Vehicle and Store Operations

  • Porter
  • Lot Tech
  • Detailer
  • Front Desk Coordinator

The fastest way in the door, and the most common starting point for people who move up quickly.

Not sure which side fits? That is genuinely fine, and it is the reason this is one application instead of ten. Tell us how you like to spend a workday and our team will point you toward the roles worth talking about.

Who We Are Looking For

  • People who genuinely like people. You are comfortable starting a conversation and steady when someone is having a bad day.
  • Reliable teammates who show up on time and pick up the slack without being asked.
  • Learners, not experts. Curiosity beats a resume full of automotive experience every time.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (required for most roles).
  • Must be 18 or older and able to pass a standard background check.

The Opportunity

Walser promotes from within, and the path is real, not decorative. Service Advisors here often started as Porters or Lube Techs. Customer Specialists often started as Sales Valets or Sales Assistants. Moving between the sales and service sides is normal, not a restart: plenty of people try one, find out they prefer the other, and keep climbing. You will get structured onboarding, a manager who is accountable for your development, and clear benchmarks for what a promotion actually requires, so you are never guessing what comes next.

How You Will Be Paid

Pay structure depends on the role, and we are upfront about both from the start.

Hourly roles - Sales Valet, Lot Tech, Porter, Front Desk Coordinator, Lube Tech, Sales Assistant, Service Runner, Detailer, Vehicle Photographer: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour, based on the role and what you bring to it.

Salaried roles - Customer Specialist and Service Advisor: $36,000 - $40,000 base salary plus incentive earnings. The base is your floor, not your target. Once established, Customer Specialists and Service Advisors at Walser typically earn $70,000 - $100,000 per year, all in - base plus incentives together - and your earnings keep scaling with the skills you build and the customer base you grow.

New hires ramp into that. Your first months are about learning the product, the process, and your customers, and we will be straight with you about what year one realistically looks like before you accept anything.

Several hourly roles are a direct path into those salaried, incentive-earning positions, and that path is the single most common way people here go from an hourly wage to six figures.

What You Will Do

Day-to-day depends on which side you land on, but the work generally looks like this:

On the sales side

  • Guide customers through the full vehicle purchase from first hello to keys in hand, with no handoffs and no pressure (Customer Specialist).
  • Support the sales team with paperwork, follow-up, and keeping deals moving.
  • Stage and deliver vehicles, and shoot the inventory photos customers shop from.

On the service side

  • Write up service needs, explain recommendations clearly, and keep customers updated on their vehicle (Service Advisor).
  • Greet and take care of customers in the service lane.
  • Perform basic maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations (Lube Tech).
  • Shuttle customers and move vehicles between locations and vendors.

On either side

  • Move, stage, and prepare vehicles for service, delivery, or photography.
  • Detail vehicles and keep the lot organized and presentable.
  • Answer phones, greet walk-ins, and route people to the right person.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional dealership environment.

What You Bring

  • Strong communication skills. Clear, honest, and easy to talk to.
  • A great attitude and a bias toward pitching in.
  • Comfort working on your feet, indoors and outdoors, in Minnesota weather.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (most roles).
  • Willingness to learn. That is the whole requirement. Automotive experience is genuinely not expected.

What Is In It For You

  • Comprehensive health coverage. Medical, dental, and vision through Blue Cross Blue Shield, plus HSA and FSA options and additional wellness benefits.
  • Paid Time Off. Time to rest, be with family, or just be somewhere that is not work.
  • 401(k) with employer match and company-paid life insurance. Real support for the long game.
  • Career growth and advancement. We promote from within, with defined career paths, mentorship, and managers invested in getting you to the next role.
  • Fertility and adoption assistance. Up to $10,000 toward fertility treatment and adoption expenses.
  • Paid clothing program. Twice a year, choose from a curated collection of branded Walser apparel, on us.
  • Employee discounts. Exclusive pricing across products and services.
  • Employee Resource Groups. Women of Walser, Drive with Pride, Asian Hmong Alliance, and Veterans at Walser.
  • Community involvement. Volunteer through the Walser Foundation and support causes across the communities we serve.
  • Employee Assistance Program. Confidential support for personal and professional challenges.
  • Referral program. Earn referral bonuses for bringing talented people to Walser.
