Job Summary:

The Senior Director, Accounting is responsible for supporting the Controller in maintaining the financial accounts of Church’s and ensuring that the appropriate processes and internal controls are in compliance to enable delivery of timely and accurate financial reports. The Senior Director, Accounting is also accountable for helping to manage certain day-to-day accounting functions and outsourced accounting functions. Additionally, this key role is responsible for supporting all external GAAP financial reporting, providing technical accounting subject matter leadership and leading key end to end processes in Revenue, AR and other areas.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

Accounting/Financial Reporting

• Manage the day-to-day accounting functions to include, but not limited to, accounts receivable, fixed assets, deferred revenue, various accruals, technical research and memo write up

• GAAP reporting and financial statement preparation

• Provide financial reporting that is accurate, timely and relevant to the business needs

• Ensure that financial records are properly stated in accordance with US GAAP

• Ensure that internal processes are implemented which are efficient and meet internal control guidelines established

• Assist in the period closing process to ensure that the accounts are closed in a timely fashion to meet reporting requirements

• Interact closely with external auditors to prepare annual financial statements and throughout the year on relevant matters

Internal Controls and Compliance

• Provide adequate internal control to safeguard the business assets

• Ensure compliance with internal control systems, policies and procedures and GAAP

• Maintain appropriate documentation of internal control systems and controls

Other

• Provide various ad-hoc reporting as needed

• Provide support on special projects

• Manage any outsourced functions surrounding accounting

• Help manage the annual audit of the business and quarterly GAAP reporting

• Provide technical accounting leadership across all accounting areas and with particular emphasis on revenue recognition, lease accounting and fixed assets

Position Requirements (Education, Qualifications, Experience):

• 10+ years of accounting experience (including operational and financial reporting)

• 6+ years in accounting positions

• Possess strong systems and process orientation experience

• Well-rounded skill set, including business partnership, collaboration, communication, influencing, flexibility, and problem solving

• Competency in accounting systems/technology

• Strong ability to interpret GAAP and other technical pronouncements

• Previous experience in QSR or retail industries is a plus

• Previous involvement in building out an accounting function desired

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent education

• CPA certification required

• Prior “Big 4” experience desired
