Position Overview
Ensign Physical Therapy is actively seeking a skilled and motivated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dedicated team in Paterson, New Jersey. Work Environment
The work setting is a dynamic hospital environment located in Paterson, New Jersey, where you’ll provide therapeutic services directly to patients, often collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists. The schedule typically runs Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility required to accommodate patient needs. Your contributions will directly support the rehabilitation of patients while maintaining a focus on comfort and care during their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in the implementation of individualized treatment plans, providing direct patient care by utilizing therapeutic modalities.
- Administer a variety of physical therapy techniques including active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle re-education, and gait training to enhance patient recovery.
- Utilize physical agents such as heat, cold, water, electricity, ultrasound, and massage to manage pain and improve functionality.
- Regularly communicate with the supervising physical therapist about patients’ responses to treatment, documenting any changes in their conditions appropriately.
- Instruct patients and caregivers on the proper use and care of rehabilitation equipment such as wheelchairs, canes, and prosthetics to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including clinical notes and progress updates, complying with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery and patient outcomes.
- Engage actively in continuing education opportunities and interdisciplinary team meetings to contribute to a culture of learning and collaboration.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your role as a PTA at Ensign Physical Therapy will involve working with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgery, injury, or various chronic conditions. You will tailor your approach to meet the unique needs of each patient, facilitating care that emphasizes their comfort, safety, and active participation in their recovery process.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field or completion of an accredited physical therapy assistant program, with a strong emphasis on applied science.
- Current certification or state-issued license to practice as a physical therapist assistant.
- Valid CPR certification, demonstrating readiness to respond to emergencies.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle, insured per state requirements, to navigate patient visits if needed.
Preferred Experience
- A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience in a physical therapy setting, preferably within a hospital or rehabilitation facility.
- Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems to maintain patient documentation effectively.
- Previous exposure to working in an interdisciplinary team environment, contributing to collaborative care efforts.
Compensation and Benefits
