Position Overview

PhysioSpace LLC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic inpatient rehabilitation team at our facility in Oakland, New Jersey. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in assisting licensed Physical Therapists in delivering innovative and evidence-based rehabilitation care. Work Environment

This role is based onsite at our hospital in Oakland, New Jersey, where you will work primarily with patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurological conditions, and musculoskeletal disorders. The team comprises diverse professionals who work collaboratively to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to meet each patient's unique needs. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, creating a balanced work-life approach while ensuring that our patients receive timely and effective rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed Physical Therapists in the creation and implementation of individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and rehabilitation goals.
  • Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and functional activities to improve their physical performance and promote healing.
  • Administer various modalities, including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat/cold therapy, effectively aiding in the recovery process.
  • Monitor patient progress diligently and document findings accurately, ensuring open communication with supervising Physical Therapists to adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Educate patients and their families on best practices for injury prevention, as well as provide tailored home exercise programs to encourage ongoing recovery efforts.
  • Maintain meticulous clinical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy and data security.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, occupational therapists, and other healthcare providers, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily serve a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from orthopedic procedures such as joint replacements, individuals with sports injuries, and patients with chronic pain conditions. Your expertise will facilitate recovery and enhance mobility for patients dealing with both physical and emotional challenges related to their rehabilitation journey.

Qualifications

  • An active Physical Therapist Assistant license in New Jersey.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant healthcare field (preferred, though an Associate's degree from an accredited PTA program with direct experience is also acceptable).
  • At least two years of experience in an outpatient orthopedic setting is preferred, although new graduates with relevant clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and patient education methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong patient-focused approach, allowing you to build rapport and trust with patients.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and the ability to document care efficiently is a plus.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with an advanced EHR system to streamline clinical documentation.
  • Prior exposure to multidisciplinary teams in a rehabilitation setting, enhancing collaboration and holistic care.
  • Experience developing patient education materials and programs to improve health literacy and patient engagement in their recovery.
