Finance Manager Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of relevant experience in a non-profit organization
- Demonstrated experience preparing monthly financial reports
- Strong understanding of general ledger and accounts receivable processes
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with non-financial stakeholders
Finance Manager Preferred Background & Skills
- Familiarity with independent school or nonprofit financial operations
- Experience with tuition management or student information systems
- Advanced skills using Excel
Staff Accountant Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial statements and internal management reports
- Oversee accounts receivable, focusing on tuition billing, collections, and reconciliations
- Analyze and explain budget variances; ensure data integrity and compliance with controls
- Collaborate with admissions, payroll, and AP staff to ensure accurate and timely information
- Support year-end close, audits, and financial compliance activities
- Maintain organized financial records and suggest improvements for processes and reporting
