• Schedule: 7 am ‐ 5 pm shifts; 1 ‐ 2 weeks per month with weekend availability
• Beeper call ‐‐ 20‐minute response time; 10 ‐ 20% call‐back rate
• 5 ‐ 8 patients per shift
• 16+ operating rooms ‐‐ large surgical department
• 80% structural cardiac cases; 20% pump cases
• TEE certification required ‐‐ 30 ‐ 40 TEEs completed within the past year
• General anesthesia coverage required when no cardiac cases are available
• Open heart, thoracic, complex vascular, and neurosurgical cases included
