Surpass Rehabilitation Center is actively seeking a motivated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dedicated healthcare team in Freeport, New York. Work Environment
This position is based in an onsite hospital setting, allowing for direct interaction with patients during their recovery. Working within a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, you will play a critical role in patient healing and rehabilitation. The work schedule is set for Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, offering a consistent routine while allowing you to develop lasting relationships with patients over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists in executing tailored treatment plans and rehabilitation programs for individual patients.
- Provide hands-on therapy, including exercises and modalities, to help patients reach their therapeutic goals.
- Educate patients and their families on rehabilitation exercises, activities, and preventative care strategies to promote recovery.
- Continuously monitor and document patient progress during each therapy session, making adjustments to treatment techniques as necessary.
- Collaborate with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive and comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize specific therapy modalities, such as trigger point therapy, to address pain and enhance mobility based on individual patient needs.
- Support the facility’s occupational health initiatives by providing therapy that aligns with workplace safety and health standards.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The Physical Therapist Assistant will engage with a diverse patient population, representing various age groups and physical conditions. Patients may include children with developmental delays, adults recovering from surgery, and seniors managing mobility challenges due to chronic illness. Understanding the needs of these diverse groups is essential to successfully delivering compassionate and effective care.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or a related field; additional accreditation or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is required.
- Must possess a currently active PTA state license to practice in New York.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, preferably in a hospital or rehabilitation setting.
Preferred Experience
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Expertise in manual therapy techniques and physiotherapy interventions.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems for documenting patient care and progress.

Compensation and Benefits
