Foth is seeking an experienced Electrical & Controls Designer to provide electrical and controls design support for internal project teams and external clients. Projects include process, packaging, utility, and facility electrical systems that support consumer products manufacturing in the food, beverage, paper, and general industrial markets.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Actively promote, support, and follow the safety policies and procedures of Foth and our clients
- Utilize AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Eplan, MicroStation, Revit, and other design software to prepare, review, modify, and maintain electrical design drawings and models
- Develop and maintain electrical equipment layouts within coordinated multidisciplinary 3D models
- Create electrical designs and construction documents for process, packaging, utility, and facility projects
- Develop electrical construction packages including one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bill of materials (BOMs)
- Interpret and implement engineering markups and design revisions
- Review design work prepared by team members for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards
- Review project drawings, vendor submittals, and technical documentation as requested
- Coordinate project activities with clients, vendors, contractors, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)
- Manage project documentation and distribute drawings and related documents through web-based platforms and document management systems
- Manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively within project teams
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing
- Provide field support during installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in drafting/design, electronics, electro-mechanical technology, or an equivalent technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience working as a designer
- 3+ years of experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Eplan, MicroStation, or similar CAD software
- 3+ years of experience with Revit or other 3D design software
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience as a designer
- 5+ years of experience using Eplan and/or AutoCAD Electrical
- Experience implementing and configuring AutoCAD Electrical project environments
- Experience implementing and configuring Eplan project environments
- Experience working within BIM or multidisciplinary 3D design environments
- Experience supporting projects within the food, beverage, paper, consumer products, or general industrial sectors
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
Preferred Previous Experience:
- Specifying electrical devices, instrumentation, and control components
- Instrument installation, wiring systems, and field devices
- Allen-Bradley PLC and control system design
- Distributed Control System (DCS) design, including module specification and schematic wiring development
- Developing electrical and control panel layout designs and bill of materials (BOMs)
- Industrial communication and network systems, including ControlNet, Ethernet, EtherNet/IP, PROFIBUS, Modbus, and similar protocols
- Low-voltage power distribution systems (480V and below), including one-line and three-line diagrams
- Motor Control Center (MCC) design and documentation
- Electrical codes and standards, including NFPA 79, NEC, NFPA 70E, and UL 508A
- Industrial electrical construction practices
- Modicon PLC and control system design
- Siemens PLC and control system design
