Overview

This position will be part of a VOX team supporting Fortune 500 companies, trade associations and nonprofit organizations in developing and executing reputation and issue advocacy campaigns. The Senior Account Executive supports campaign strategy and execution, managing client relationships and leading tactical implementation across multiple projects. A successful candidate will have strong writing, research and project management skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and a team-oriented attitude focused on excellence. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a public affairs, public relations or communications role and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

The position will be based in Washington, DC, and the individual will work in the office in accordance with company policy and local ordinances.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute campaign strategies and tactical plans in collaboration with senior team members
  • Develop high-quality content including press releases, social and digital media content, briefing documents, backgrounders, event summaries, research briefs, blog posts, talking points, op-eds, one-pagers, and other written materials
  • Execute media relations programs including press list development, pitch strategy, and reporter outreach for assigned accounts
  • Manage project timelines, activity tracking and reporting for clients
  • Interact directly with clients on campaign progress, budgets and strategic recommendations
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Mentor junior team members on campaign execution and best practices
  • Support account management with scoping, timeline management and preliminary budget oversight

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience working in public affairs, public relations, communications, political or campaign environments. Experience in education or healthcare policy is a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicate with clients professionally, negotiate approvals diplomatically, and maintain composure and production quality under constant changes and deadline pressure
  • Demonstrated experience managing media relations programs, including content development and reporter outreach
  • Strong experience developing high-quality written materials for diverse audiences and purposes
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with social media programs and digital communications tools
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while seeking guidance on strategic decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute ideas, take initiative, and recommend course of action

The anticipated salary range for the Senior Account Executive is $62,000 to $75,000.

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications and geography. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off and/or other benefits also are available.
