Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Environmental and Facilities Department is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Senior Project Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead and manage construction projects, including plant expansions, renovations, and greenfield developments, across North American manufacturing facilities.
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Projects 3, this position supports the Environmental and Facilities department by providing project management, construction oversight, and building design expertise. The role ensures projects are delivered in alignment with quality, cost, schedule, and safety objectives for North American manufacturing operations.
What you’ll be doing
• Develop building design criteria for mechanical, electrical, fire protection, civil, and structural systems.
• Provide technical guidance to North American manufacturing facilities on building design, construction, and building-related standards.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for industrial buildings and related systems, supporting local facilities teams and reviewing project submittals.
• Lead plant planning, building design, construction, and project management activities to achieve quality, cost, schedule, and safety targets.
• Mentor engineers, construction coordinators, and project team members to support skill development and strengthen construction expertise.
• Build strong customer relationships through clear communication, collaboration, and alignment with business needs.
What you bring
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in building design and construction.
• 5+ years of experience with industrial buildings and building-related systems.
• 3+ years of leadership, mentoring, or people management experience.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work additional hours as needed to support project requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 75% based on project needs across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
• Valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle record that meets company standards.
Added bonus if you have
• Bachelor’s degree in the specified Engineering areas of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or Registered Architect (RA) credential.
• Experience with industrial mechanical systems, including piping, chilled water, compressed air, and related utilities.
• Experience managing industrial construction projects valued at $20M or more.
• Experience with industrial power systems, including switchgear, power distribution, and systems operating at 480VAC and above.
• Experience with industrial structural steel systems.
• Experience managing large-scale civil construction installations.
• AutoCAD experience.
