Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR

Part Time I First Shift Weekends

Surgical Services I Lexington, KY

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.

Description Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR:

  • At the direction of management and/or nursing personnel, assists the hospital staff/department in the provision of high quality, safe patient care
  • Provides basic physical care of the patient.
  • Demonstrates safe patient transport with stretcher, wheelchairs, and patient beds.
  • Performs tasks and procedures as directed according to hospital policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes principles of aseptic technique.
  • Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
  • Actively participates in unit activities.
  • Aid in Surgical Procedures and certain basic circulating functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room.
  • Training Schedule-Monday-Friday (6:30am-3:30pm) for 3 months; transition to weekend schedule after training.

Requirements Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR:

  • High School Diploma and/or Equivalent.
  • Current KY Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completions of first year of Nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
