Summary

The Biomedical Sciences (BMS) program is a master’s degree program that prepares graduate students for the rigors of medical, dental, and other biomedical professional degree programs. The BMS program is offered in two modalities: online live and face-to-face in person. Professors teach in person in the classroom with both in-person and fully online student attendees at the same time.

The Biomedical Sciences program is seeking a full-time faculty member with the expertise and experience necessary to teach biomedical sciences courses equal to the rigor of those taught in medical schools. Examples of content areas are: Gross Anatomy, Human Physiology, Molecular Genetics, Pathophysiology, Forensic Pathology, Embryology, Microbiology (and others).   The ideal candidate will have the background knowledge and teaching experience to deliver the content at the expected level.  Full-time faculty in the BMS program are expected to contribute to Barry University in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service.

This position is Hybrid (in-Person/Remote)

The anticipated start date for this position is January 1, 2027.

Essential Functions

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences will be expected to teach a variety of lecture and lab courses every semester (Fall, Spring, Summer) and at least one elective BMS course per year.  The position requires academic advising of 60-80 BMS graduate students as they progress through the program.  In addition, the faculty member is expected to participate in scholarship and research within their area of expertise, presenting and publishing on a regular basis.  All full-time faculty at Barry University are expected to serve the university by participating in university governance and sitting on university committees.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • The ideal candidate must hold a doctoral-level degree (Ph.D., M.D., D.O., or D.P.M.) in a field directly related to biomedical sciences and must be able to demonstrate the ability to lecture on and clearly communicate topics related to Gross Anatomy and Human Physiology. 

  • Experience teaching Gross Anatomy and Human Physiology at the graduate level is preferred, but not required. 

  • The candidate must be located in or be able to relocate to the South Florida area and is expected to be present to teach lectures in person at the BMS campus in Hollywood, Florida.
